Back Home in KC

Jack and I got back to Kansas City yesterday. We had a great time while we were in Florida. We enjoyed being around the ocean and the beach. And, the sunsets were just out of this world.

We probably drove close to a thousand miles while we were there, but you know we enjoyed it because we got to see a lot of Florida we had never been to before. We looked at a lot of campgrounds, did a lot of shopping, and a lot of eating!! The seafood is so good down there.

We are going to have to wait until July 1 to see if we can get a site at Adelaide Shores because they don't take reservations for us short-timers (3-months) until then. We finally talked to someone in the office last Monday, but he was just a fill-in as the owners/hosts were on vacation and he didn't have a lot of information. So we will see on July 1 if we can get our reservations. It sounds like they are pretty full most of the time especially those three months. So we hope we will get one. Will keep you posted. If not we have a couple other parks in mind.

On Sunday, we drove over to the Bayou Bay Park and looked at it. We really lucked out as one of the full time residents happened to be up by the office and offered to take us on a golf cart tour of the park. His wife works in the office, and he does a lot of the music activities at the park. Real nice guy. The park is nice, they are in the process of enlarging it and that side doesn't have all the improvements made yet, but they hope to have it done in a year or so. It definitely is right on the Bayou. The only thing I wondered about was - was there a lot of mosquitoes around? He said they were the kind you couldn't see but could feel them. He said they sprayed the park about three times a week and that helped out a lot. Had a nice club house and pool area.

While we were over in that area, we ran across a big flea market and of course we had to walk through it. It was big and had a lot of stuff. But it was a little warm that day and with the tin roofs we didn't stay too long. Ran across a restaurant called Cody's Roadhouse, and had a late lunch. We hadn't ever eaten at one of these before but the food was excellent and great prices. It looked like they were mainly in Florida.

Last night we went to our grandson's baseball game. He is getting on the end of their season so we wanted to make this one as we will missed last weeks. It was a great night for baseball and they won their game. Chad and Bronson came to watch too so we had all the grand kids and both our sons there so it was a great night for us.

Hi there,

Have to comment about the mosquitoes you can't see but can feel em'. They are NOT mosquitoes! They are no-see-ums. They bite and they bite hard! The itching doesn't go away like a mosquito bite, it lingers, for days. I still have marks on my legs from the bites that I got in Florida in the winter of 06/07. I would think twice, no three times, possibly four, before going to the place near the bayou. As a rule, noseeums are out between 4 and 7 so don't plan on being outdoors during those times. Just wanted to give you fair warning. Seriously, think twice.
