Lake of the Ozarks

Jack and I left Kansas City last Monday, June 16, and headed to the Lake of the Ozarks for the week. I volunteered at the hospital Monday afternoon so as soon as I got home we packed up and headed out. Our oldest son has a condo in Osage Beach, MO., and we stay at it. It seems like his family is so busy with the kids' activities they don't get to use it as much as they should. Jack loves to go so he can can get his "fishing fix"! And he caught a few bass - only two keepers (which is releases).

Another reason we went this time was to go into Lebanon, MO (which is Jack's and my hometown) to see his sister-in-law. She is more like a sister to both of us and we are really close to her. She was married to Jack's brother who died about 10 years ago. She hasn't been feeling very well the last few weeks and we decided it was time for us to make sure that she was doing all right. So went into Lebanon on Tuesday (which is only about 35 miles from the lake's condo) and spend the day with her. She was feeling some better but we helped her out with some house projects that needed doing and visited with her. She is very independent and doesn't want to impose on anyone. She turned 75 this year. But she is normally very healthy and active. We were glad to see her and discuss some of her health plans and see that things were all right. She doesn't have any children so we are her "kids"....

On Wednesday, our good friends, Jeannene and Warren Likins, who live at Columbia, MO came down to the lake to see us. They stayed with us Wednesday and Thursday nights and we had a great time with them. We have been friends for 30 years and always have a good time. Jack and Warren did some fishing and Jeannene and I got some shopping in and caught up on our visiting.

Friday we headed back to Kansas City. The good thing about being retired is you can go to the Lake through the week when it is nice and quiet and then leave it to the others on the weekends. On the way home, my girlfriend called to see when we would be home and to see if we wanted to get together to play cards or dominoes. So we met the two couples we normally play with Friday night.

Saturday we got the laundry caught up and then Saturday night the hospital I volunteer at was having an appreciation night for all the hospital workers at our local independent league baseball game. So we went to that and enjoyed a night of baseball and had a good Kansas City bar-a-que dinner. So we have had another busy week.

I know what you mean about during the week it is quieter. The same goes for our home park. Glad you had a good time. One of there days we will visit your neck of the woods. Hope the bad weather stays away from you.

Yes, our park here in Branson is more quiet during the first part of the week, however, it has been really full until this morning. Sounds like you have had a great time this past week. We're still waiting for ya'll to come to Branson. Don't come during the 4th weekend though... we'll be in Norman.
